Should immediate family members of the head of a government be prevented or limited from working in the government?

Just like everyone else, they have a right to go into that career, but they should be just as qualified as everyone else in the position currently or before them. If they've gone through all of the schooling and have done well and shown that they'd be great for the job, why not? If they just get the job due to family ties, that's not right.

Nepotism will always be a conflict of interest. Even if someone is qualified, there will be others who feel they are equally qualified but didn't get the position because they aren't related, which will cause tension in the organization throughout various levels due to resentment.

I work in government. My parents also work in different units of the government. I'm a really hard worker and rose up the ladder quickly past a lot of my peers and eventually landed into what I would consider my dream job. All throughout my career I would hear complaints about every single success I had because people assumed it had to be because of my father. The funny thing was that he worked for a completely different unit and had zero to do with my success. That never stopped the rumors though. I was reported to the union more times than I can count, always dismissed and unfounded. I'm so glad I'm out of that unit and into a better place where no one questions my worth. It was 7 rough years climbing the ladder though.

If you are qualified, educated, and can stand on your own merit, I see no issue with it. You shouldn't be standing on the backs of others though.
