Fasting and Prayer

Does anybody else do fasting and prayer for their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ and God believing in monogamous relationships and marriage equality? I am converting to becoming a Catholic because of my depression and anxiety about being a Christian that goes to Church every week with my best friend Ben and wonder if it's even worth the effort of waiting until nightfall to eat. I pray and fast every year in September near the end of the month for 7 days and only eat at night after 6 or 7pm.
