I went for my AFP test, the one they do during 16-20 weeks. That test you for spina bifida and Down syndrome etc. my numbers for spina bifida is way pass the cut off mark. Cut off mark is 2.5 and my number is a 5.0 yes very high. I go to a specialist next Tuesday September 26 (longest wait ever). This my 3rd pregnancy, I already have a boy and girl, expecting another girl. My last pregnancy which was with my son end in premature labor. He was born 3 months early weighing 1lb 6oz 12in. He's a healthy 3yr old now Thank God. The reason for his early arrival was a reverse diastolic through his umbilical cord. Which I'm reading is something similar to IUGR. My doctor feel the same thing that happened with my last pregnancy is happening again. Only thing is, she didn't catch it for my son early enough but she's considering high risk this go round and watching me closely. I'm just soooooo worried that this can be a problem which I'll take this over spina bifida (neural tube defect). I just pray Tuesday that everything is fine and if not it's a way they can prolong my pregnancy up until a certain amount of weeks and then deliver her. Dealing with IUGR, it's comes with preeclampsia, high blood pressure and premature labor which I definitely had all symptoms for with my son. Anybody with any numbers that high PLEASE help me out to ease my mind. I've been googling since she told me, I am a WRECK right now please help!!!!
