anyone have any experiences being checked for leaking amniotic fluid?

heres what I'm experiencing (almost 27 weeks btw)

-underwear get very wet

-it seems to be pretty clear

-doesnt smell like urine most of the time(last night was a lot and smelled very odd and I could smell it even when sitting down) I could post a pic in comments. it it's TMI.

-its not CONSTANT as it doesnt seem to start until halfway through the day

I'm worried and my doctor said I could go into labor and delivery for monitoring & testing. not sure if I'm being a worry wart or what. ive read about 50/50 on here of women who didnt go cuz they thought it was urine and it was fluid and they were very low from ignoring it. and the other half went in and it was only urine. I wanna be safe but also don't wanna waste money as that sounds very expensive. so looking for opinions please so I can decide what I should do :(
