Baby name?

Question

If you were to have an early miscarriage would you use the name you picked out for your next one? My fiancé and I had a miscarriage around 6 weeks and had a name picked out within a couple of days. Now we're expecting again and don't know if we should use that name or come up with a new one?😞

If I didn't know the gender of the baby yet I would still use the names I had picked out. But once I knew the gender and had been calling my unborn baby that name I don't think I would use the name again. I have not been in that situation so I cannot say for sure. I'm so sorry for your loss. You and your husband will decide what's right for you guys when you get pregnant again. 💕

We had names we liked (Nova and Elijah) for the baby we lost however we just called it little bean until we found out gender unfortunately we lost the baby at around 9 weeks. I had a strong feeling it was a baby boy but never found out for sure. The names Nova and Elijah are retired. They both kinda passed away with our baby. I still love both names but they bring back to much hurt.

It is completely up to you and your partner. My mother had already chosen a name for a girl and a boy when she had a miscarriage. She kept the same name and gave it to me. However, she started referring to her first unborn child by a pet name. She was always very open about it and I never felt bad or hurt. She also says that if she didn't loose the first pregnancy, I would have never been born. Even if she a daughter later, conception would have been in a different day, it wouldn't be me. This always made me feel that my sibling was part of who I was and I think it also helped her to cope with this loss.

I think it all depends on how you guys feel about it. I don't think it would be bad if you did. it doesn't take away from how much you wanted or loved the baby you lost. If you really love the name and want to use it then you should. But if it's going to bring up sad memories every time you say or hear it then you may want to pick a different name.
