yeast infection

i went to the dr today to get checked for yeast infection. ive never had one before im 20. and they are suppost to call with the results and they didnt. they gave me a pill anyway and i got targets off brand cream and i put it on and it burns. is it suppost to burn to put the cream on?? im freaking out .. is there something else wrong with me? never delt with this before. posting anonymous cause im embarrassed.... thanks for your help! no judging please.
