I want a side cut so bad.

I have short hair? It's a liiiittle bit past my shoulders (it grew lol, it was above shoulders about 2 months ago) and the top half is curly and the bottom half is wavy like almost straight. I'm scared to do it because jobs and my future and worried it might set me back from getting hired anywhere. I could easily hide the cut by having my hair down but sometimes I woukd be required to have my hair up and I wonder if that would put others off or make it seem unprofessional.
