This is our first child. I love my husband very much but the man can be so detached at times. He tells me he can't handle me being in pain and feels helpless so he plays on his phone. I have tried to tell him I'll need him to help me and encourage me. Though I have no prior experience with labor I want him to be my rock and keep me focused on the end result and not the pain. However, I fear all he is going to end up doing is playing on his phone.

My husband is very analytical. He has aspburgers so it's hard for him to relate to people on an emotional level. So I've learned to try and find ways to explain things from different points of view helps. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I'm in for; much less how to help him understand what I need from him to help me.
