I've seen multiple articles of children almost dying (and some of them did die) because their parents made them have a vegan diet. So if you try it,  please get advice from your child's doctor to make sure your baby is getting all the necessary nutrients needed.

It is possible to have a totally healthy vegan diet, but it is a lot of hard work and requires a level of knowledge and understanding that is beyond a lot of people.

Had a family friend who did this. I don't know much about the impacts. I will be giving my son meat despite being vegetarian though just so he has the option later in life

I honestly feel like everyone has their own personal opinion and agenda particularly when it come to food and children. So, I wouldn't take the advice of anyone on here - especially because it involves something as impactful and important as your child's health. 
You should speak with your doctor and a pediatric nutritionist for advice. Get a few opinions if that makes you feel better. Then you can make an informed decision based on real facts and evidence from people you know and can trust.

Please consult with a doctor before doing it. There are cases where kids have died. Im my opinion you should raise kids on a well balanced diet and give them the option later in life to become vegan or not.

Absolutely okay of done correctly. I am currently vegan and will be raising my child vegan when I get pregnant. It’s is an absolute myth that children need the breast milk of another species, aka cows milk, to be healthy. Meat products are not necessary to live a healthy lifestyle. 
I know several women who had very healthy pregnancies and healthy 7 to 9 lb babies following vegan diets. :) 
P.S there is a wonderful and very supportive group on Facebook specifically for women planning vegan pregnancies/raising vegan children. It is a wonderful safe place to talk to mommas who are already doing that.
