opk vs. cervix positions

So during my ovulation week I started taking opks and I kept getting negatives. I asked and looked around and the results were I'm not ovulating or I'll get a positive in a few days. so every day I took a test, while also checking my cervix. I noticed my cervix was "fertile" but my test negative. we BD anyways. then a few days later (yesterday actually) I got a positive opk, in the excitement I strongly suggested it was BD time lol. Before we did BD though I checked my cervix again and noticed it wasn't in such a fertile position anymore. What's going on??
