Tooth pulled/getting braces while pregnant

I'm 21 weeks today and have finally saved enough money for braces (strictly for quality of life reasons NOT for vanity--I have a crooked tooth and a slight cross bite that is making it extremely hard to talk, eat, and sleep properly).

Did any of you ladies have to have a tooth pulled while pregnant? If so, did the dentist use something different that Novocain?

I've already called my OBGYN's office I'm just waiting for a call back & thought I would ask here!
