Positive for GBS??

Question

I'm a FTM and I just tested positive for GBS .  I'm 37 weeks as of tomorrow, and I'm just wondering if any one else tested positive. Or if any moms who tested positive in the past and given birth, how was everything with baby? I'm just nervous I read on it, and learned it can be fatal towards baby if infected, and not treated properly. Also read it can give baby minigitis if infected.  So I'm just kind of scared.

since you're positive, they should give you antibiotics at delivery.

This is my second GBS pregnancy and it’s not a big deal. You get antibiotics in your IV and that’s the extent of it really 🙂
The only part that stinks is if your water breaks you have to go in immediately, you can’t labor at home longer.

I tested positive aswell and was told that if my water broke I'd need to call the hospital. My OB also told me they give you antibiotics every 4 hours.

I'm positive this time around and wasn't with my first. I was freaking out. There are alternatives to iv antibiotics though so you don't have those. I'm taking the more natural approach because the last time I was given antibiotics via iv It made me so sick!

I was positive and didn’t even know till labor, they administered antibiotics to me every 6 hours and everything is fine with babygirl.

I was positive first time around, will be tested next week, guessing I'll still be positive. All it entails is an IV during delivery. Kind of annoying, but better than passing anything to baby!

It's more common than you think. I am positive and work as a pharmacist at my hospital. The only bad part for me is knowing I will be hooked up to an IV the entire time, since they will infuse the antibiotics every four hours until the baby is delivered.

25% of women are GBS positive. Its very common!

I am. Was before. Not a big deal once u know bc then they treat u and monitor ur baby specifically to prevent infection. Only complication is if u give birth too quickly for antibiotics. But ur FTM, so I’m guessing Ull b fine.

I tested positive with my second. I just had iv antibiotics while I was in labor and she was good to go. Perfectly healthy! Nothing to worry about at all!
