Should I do a baby registry?

I really have no idea what I need/ what I'm doing. This is my first child and I'm STRESSING OUT

I did one mostly to keep track of things that I needed and becuase when you get close to your due date, most places give you a completion discount of 10-15% off anything left on your registry! It was very helpful for me!

You honestly don’t need a ton of the stuff suggested for a registry. I’d go with the basics:
Crib and mattress 
Fitted sheets
Rock n play
Swing
Vibrating bouncy chair
Play mat/gym
Baby soap & lotion (Burt’s bee baby is really nice)
Onesies (get white and then later you can do more gender focused, and you don’t need too much)
Bottles of your choice (I went with chicco natural fit glass and Phillips avent natural glass. Glass is super easy to clean and you don’t have to soak or toss it if you can’t find a bottle for a few days/weeks- and yes that does happen)
Diapers, cloth or disposable ( cloth you can do pockets or cover and liner, both are very easy to do and take care of and in the long run you save money- a cheap and good one is Alva baby.)
A diaper pail is nice but a trash can works just as well and motivates you to take it out more often.

I had the worst stress because I had nothing and making one help me SOOO much because I can keep track now! For the actual purpose of people buying you things off it I’ve heard and read a lot that people do not care or pay attention to them at all.
