When does pregnant actually start.

ok well I started my period August 30.  I ovulated on Sept 12 or 13. We found on out we were pregnant on Sept 21. Medically when did pregnancy began? The first day of my last period or after ovulation?

They say it’s usually the first day of your last period. So whenever your missed period is supposed to start is usually the mark of 4 weeks pregnant. That’s what my doctor told me

There are 2 different ways the count gestational age and fetal age. Gestational age is from the first day of your last period and fetal age(2weeks less) is from ovulation. Essentially, the same thing. Doctors go by GA bc noone can tell for sure when ovulation occurred(even with tests there is a 24, some cases 48hr window), how long the egg traveled and how long it took for it to implant. Also, sperm can live for up to 5 days. That’s why LMP

First day of your last period. The first two weeks of pregnancy you're not actually pregnant. 4 weeks pregnant is about 2 weeks after ovulation. And ovulation is about 2 weeks after your last period started. 
When you get an ultrasound they'll give you a more accurate expected due date.

For me, my doctors started to say the baby was 6 weeks based on lmp. I knew that was impossible because I hadn't had sex until a week and a half after that (my hubby and I were long distance at the time). During my first ultrasound, they changed to 4 weeks based on what they saw. Most women have their due dates change at least once during pregnancy.
