Would you have paid for a baby service your first few days home?

I’m wondering if there are mommas out there that would have paid for a baby helper type service their first few days being home to help with things around the house and taking care of baby so you could get some rest or some time to yourself. Would you want this person to have any specific qualifications?

my preference would be a postpartum doula - rather than care for the baby they focus on taking care of you so you can care for baby and bond well. run you a bath, do the laundry, make you food, etc. My husband was home for the 1st month but if he had to work I would have found that so helpful.

My friend hired a night nurse to do overnights, caring for baby  besides breastfeeding. She had a good reason,  she was right in the midst of finishing her last semester of pharmacy school and her husband is a doctor (a bit older in age, late 40s) working long hours and can't screw up at work or possible lawsuit, so she had someone 3 overnights a week so they could sleep every other night. The woman she hired was a retired nurse.

No. I would want to take care of my child by myself.
I wouldn’t want somebody under foot bonding with my child in those precious first few days.

Thanks for the replies, ladies! It had been brought up to me and I thought it could be good for some families. I had a c-section and my hubby wasn’t given any time off after our baby was born so if it hadn’t been for my mom and grandmother, I would have been screwed!

I would have gladly paid for a maid to come in an hour a day and clean and make a meal or two. Yes my husband is there but we were beyond exhausted. I wanted to sleep and he was taking care of the baby. Plus I was bleeding and torn to shreds. I'm way to much of a clean freak. Being in a messy house drives me crazy.

My husband works nights and had to go back to work a few days after my son was born. I really could have used someone to help me because I was almost completely immobile due to stitches and a badly damaged pelvic floor.

No lol that’s why I have a husband. And honestly those first few weeks are beyond easy. Babies literally just sleep and eat. Even now with a four month old, I don’t feel that I need any additional help throughout the day while my husband is at work.
