Can I switch formula?

While Baby was in the hospital they gave her several formula bottles and now at home she went home with Similac pro advanced but I don’t seem to like it for her, her pediatrician said formula doesn’t matter which one you give them its all the same to them.. but I want to switch, which one should I try for colicky baby? Can I switch without doctors approval? Can something happen? First time mom here, her pediatrician doesn’t help he yells at me and told me infants don’t need medication that it’s all normal it’ll go away I asked him already to switch formulas and he said milk is milk and it won’t make a difference...

I'd switch pediatricians before I switched formula. Fuck that guy. It certainly *does* matter which one you give like wtf.

You fav most definitely switch formulas without dr consent. This is your child. You choose what they do and don't eat. And as another poster said, switch your doc. If you eat a bad feeling, switch! It is your right to feel confident and safe in the care of your child

It does matter what formula you give, the doctor is wrong. They make a sensitive one for babies with Colic, talk to a doctor for better information

I have a 4 month old colicky baby from day 1 . I have him on gentelease. and it seems to work. but it's not just about formula it's hard work trying to sooth them. mines loved and seem to calm with his pacifier .

If you feel you're baby needs to switch then switch! My LO was in the pro advance and it gave her horrible gas. Try the pro sensitive line it made my baby a happy baby again!

I started with similac pro advanced and it seemed to make my baby gassy and uncomfortable so the pediatrician said we could try the sensitive. That's what we give now. Mine also told me all brands are the same and it doesn't matter what you feed (unless your baby has an allergy). You have to find one that your baby likes and that's pretty much it. Try the sensitive it's lactose free which can be hard to digest. The only thing I don't like about the sensitive is the first ingredient is corn syrup and all the sensitive formulas are the same. They have to replace the lactose with another sugar. My baby is 6 months and I might try to switch back to the advanced.

we switched our to Similac pro sensitive  and coupled it with anti colic bottles and gripe water.... made a big difference

If your child is a newborn it absolutely matters. My husband and I accidentally gave our daughter Infamil instead of her Similac which was her usual brand and it gave her the runs!

id just ask pediatrician if it's ok to switch...with my son he was on similac and i switched him to enfamil gentlease...good luck!😀
