Strep B question??

I just got my results and they were negative but my question is how does one get strep b? I've heard if you have had anal sex before (which my husband and I have *sorry if TMI*), but it was still negative. Should I mention something to my midwife?

It’s a bacteria in your intestines. We all have it but sometimes it flares up.

I've never had anal but I tested positive for it in my last pregnancy and was on antibiotics when I went into labour any one can carry it and also you can test negative now then  next week positive then the week after negative again for some reason they haven't bothered testing me in this pregnancy and I mentioned it and I'm 40+3 so they're not too concerned but I think they should test for it more in later pregnancy for the safety of baby xx

If you are positive for strep B it just means the bacteria lives inside your body. We all need certain bacteria to survive & this is just one of them. It isn’t transmitted sexually or from having anal sex. But if you do test positive they will give you an antibiotic during labor that way the baby wouldn’t attain the bacteria.
