So I fail my 3 hour glucose test!!!! What now??

Can some one explain what you did different? And did it go away after you deliver?? Where there any complications. I’m worried!!!!

You'll be considered diabetic. You'll see an endocrinologist, a nutritionist, start testing your sugars regularly. They'll keep a closer eye on your baby as you will now be considered high risk. As long as you follow the diet and potentially take any needed medications to keep your sugars in check you and your baby should be fine. There are potential complications for your baby if you don't monitor your sugars and keep them low. He or she could be born larger with under developed organs, they could be hypoglycemic when born and need to have IV insulin, the could have issues with their arms and shoulders. Those are the three biggest scariest complications that stood out to me the most. You may also have to be induced early depending on the size of your baby, which could lead to a c section. But you will be monitored weekly to keep an eye on everything. Just do what your doctors tell you and you shouldn't have an issue. I had GD and my son was born perfectly healthy without any issues at 39 weeks (I did have an emergency C for fetal distress but it wasn't GD related).

My mom was diagnosed with GD.  She had to go to a nutritionist and was put on a diet.  Some people have to do the blood draws and insulin shots, but some are able to control it adequately with diet.

So I fail my 3 hour glucose test!!!! What now??
