First time moms: if you were told your child would be 9lbs or more - would you automatically schedule a c section?

My son is measuring off the charts in every aspect. Legs are super long, head is measuring extremely large (like he’s 37 weeks but I’m only 34+3) He is weighing 6lbs 11oz right now and I have like 5 more weeks to go. The doctor wants to do a CT Pelvimetry at 37 weeks to see what his head is measuring and if he will essentially fit through my pelvis. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m torn and of course would love to experience a vaginal birth and I’m questioning the accuracy of ultrasound measurements/ weights and the accuracy of a CT scan.... I’d rather not schedule an elective c section. Help?!?!

My sister came out naturally at 9 almost 10 lbs and breech 😱 my poor mother haha but she came out safely and my mother recovered fine
It’s definitely possible
Those growth scans can be wrong 1-2 lbs up or down, even fundal height can be wrong.
It’s more so based on your pelvic size as well not baby’s size 
If a c-section is necessary it will inevitably happen, so trying first then getting one if necessary is an option

yeah there is a pretty significant margin of error when estimating weight...also things move and spread during delivery that's how we are made...so I don't think it would hurt to try a vaginal birth. of course do your research and talk with your care providers about options beside c section. goodluck in whatever you decide mama! trust your body no matter what birth you and your baby need.

A good friend of mine has large babies, both were almost 10 lbs and she delivered them naturally. She's like 5'2" and very skinny so it's crazy to think she naturally birthed those babies lol my cousin who is also about that size has birthed 5 of her children naturally and they ranged from 9-11  lbs. 
It's not impossible to give birth to a large baby, it might be more difficult but if you want to have a vaginal delivery then go for it!

with my first baby the Dr told me baby was going to be large. so large that there would risks to not being induced right away. Totally scared me into agreeing. she was 7#14 oz. Second baby I let pick her due date. She came a week and a day after her estimated due date weighing 9#4 oz. 3rd baby I also let pick her due date. 10#5oz vaginally zero issues.  if your baby is big don't labor on your back. Pushing on your back actually decreases your pelvic opening and makes it more likely for baby to get stuck.  my experiences are mine and I wouldn't base yours off of that. I have been told my baby is 7lbs already at 35+4, like you I was really hoping for a natural delivery but have to wait a couple of weeks for another scan and a sweep. If the sweep doesn't work and baby is still off the chart then I am actually considering a c section as I would hate to develop complications and have to have an emergency one anyway. I am hoping and praying i can get her out naturally before she gets too big!! 
Take a look at the pros and cons, I know I'd be devastated if they'd got her weight wrong and she was smaller and I'd gone for a section, but it's just one of those things I suppose. Aslong as they arrive safely that's all that matters. Good luck x

With my first child the growth estimate was wrong...they told he was under 5lbs. He was born 7lbs4oz. A vaginal birth is still possible with a bigger baby. Good luck whatever you decide!

I have gestational diabetes. At my growth scan tomorrow, if I have a heavy baby, I’ll be induced in my 38th week. If she’s still breech they’ll schedule a c section.

Based on personal experience with my first son, she induced me almost a week early...said that he was already almost 10lbs and if we waited he could be well past 11lbs! Turns out he was 8lbs14oz.... still a big baby , just not a 10lbs baby!

I've been told my very petite grandmother naturally birthed my father who was 13 pounds. But then I have a friend who is not at all petite who had trouble birthing her 8lb baby and ended in a csection. That being said, your size and baby's size are not the only determining factors in birthing success.

the growth estimates are just that. estimates. more than 80% of the time they are not accurate. for example. i was estimated to be a 10lb baby, my mother had GD so they went and had a c section. turns out i was 7lb 8oz. a far cry from 10lb.
