PSA: Menstrual cups and TSS

According to this article, and many others, there is still a risk of TSS for menstrual cup users. In the screenshot below, there is a description of a reported case of TSS in a cup user and the risks associated with the cup.

I just wanted to make everyone aware of this because many women in this community are under the impression that there is no risk of TSS with cups. In my opinion, that always seemed off cause cups accumulate blood just like tampons, and are also exposed to bacteria in your vagina. So I never understood why so many people think you won’t get the infection with cups.

I’m not a cup user, but at the end of the day, try to be more hygienic with cups, be careful during insertion, and obviously don’t leave them in for too long. Have a nice day 😊
