Open relationship

I just agreed to be in an open relationship with the guy I love because it's the only way I get to be with him. We dated for a couple weeks, but he got sick - like he might die sick- He broke up with me because he didn't want me to be too attached but we stayed friends (maybe a bit more than friends). He recently got better, but he doesn't want to go back to dating. He wants to try out a more polyamorous lifestyle. I want to be with him. I'm also moving to another state in December and secretly I'm glad. I'll get to be with him now, and love him now, but I know that I couldn't do it forever.
