52 hours of labor

I was offered a cervical check at my 38 week appointment, but i refused because my mom wouldn’t be here for another week & i was so scared it would put me in labor. So at 39+2 (a day after my mom got here) my doctor offered again and I agreed. I felt fine for the rest of the day, the cervical check didn’t even hurt or feel uncomfortable. He told me I was completely closed but my cervix has started to soften & he said it could be another week possibly two before I went into labor. Later that night I went to bed & when I woke up the next morning I had the WORST period-like cramps. I also felt a lot of pressure in my vagina and I kept complaining about it to my mom. I shrugged it off and went about my day when around noon I went to the bathroom and when I went to wipe I felt something coming out of me and i freaked out! I looked at the piece of toilet paper and out came part of my mucous plug!! My mom googled “how long until I go into labor after I lose my mucous plug?” 😂 and according to google it said it could be today or it could be a week. I told my mom & my hubby I wanted to go out and walk myself into labor so we went out to walk some shops when I started to feel the period-like cramps get more intense. I was so confused because I didn’t know if they were contractions or not. They felt nothing like Braxton Hicks but i played it off to my doctor possibly irritating my cervix. I started to feel them more frequent and my mom asked me if I wanted to go home and rest and I said heck no! I want her out of me ASAP!! So we went to IKEA and walked around for 3 hours and the whole time I was having what i realize now were contractions and they were hurting! We came home around 5 pm I was having contractions every 5 mins that were lasting more than a minute each so I called L&D.; The lady told me since I’m a FTM we tend to progress more slowly so she told me to call back when I was having contractions every 3-4 mins 🙄 so I waited and two hours later I was having contractions every 3-4 mins so I decided to wait it out until I couldn’t anymore (maybe 2 hours) so I called l&d; and they told me to come in to get checked. I got to triage and they told me they would monitor me for 2 hours and check my dilation progress. I got sent home because i was only 1 1/2 cm dilated. I came home and couldn’t sleep because my contractions were SO painful and so close together so I was up all night. The next day i was STILL having contractions so I called L&D; again and they told me to come in so i did and I hadn’t progressed so they sent me home with a shot of morphine so i could sleep 😒😒 which was a fail because it lasted less than 20 mins. So I repeated the same night as I had previously had, no sleep except my contractions were really starting to get painful! So i went to L&D; once again the next day and got checked and I was at 4 cm dilated! I was so exhausted and begging to be admitted but I was told no I had to be at least at a 5. So the dr told me to go walk around and come back in two hours to be checked. I finally came back an hour and a half later because I was in excruciating pain! (Anyone remember when they said you’ll KNOW when youre in labor because you won’t be able to talk or walk thru contractions 😭😭) I got checked and I was at a 5 1/2 so I got admitted!!!

I was in so much pain I asked for an epidural so the anesthesiologist came in with a student to place it. I should’ve known better! 🙄😬 Anyway I got the epidural and I only felt half of my body get numb, the other half I could still kind of feel the contractions which they assured me was normal & it would start working soon.. I labored for a few more hours when they came in and told me I had gotten an infection and i was stuck at 9 cm so they gave me pitocin and antibiotics. My epidural had wore off so as soon as the pitocin kicked in I was in tears! It hurt SO bad 😭 so the anesthesiologist came and added more meds to it but i could still feel everything on my left side and again they told me it was normal! Ugh. Finally after 2 hours I had the sensation like I had to poop so I rang for the nurse and I told her i desperately needed to poop 😂 she checked me and I was already at a 10 so they gave me the green light to start pushing. I pushed for an hour and a half and my nurse kept telling me I was doing a great job and that she felt the baby coming! We were so confused when the head nurse walked in, shoved her fingers inside me and said “SHE HAS MADE NO PROGRESS AT ALL!!!” You guys she was so mean about it! I got so angry I closed my legs (yes girl i sure did!!!) and I said I’m not pushing until you guys figure it out! So the head nurse walks out and by this point my epidural had completely wore off plus I still had the pitocin so I was SCREAMING y’all! I never thought I’d be the screaming woman in labor but I sure was! Once again the anesthesiologist came in and added more meds when the head nurse walks back in with the doctor. That’s when they told me I wasn’t going to be able to have a vaginal delivery because I wasn’t progressing and my baby’s heart rate was dipping really low so they told me I was going to have a c-section. At this point I was in so much pain and I was so tired that I didn’t care! I was screaming begging them to just take the baby out of me before something happened to her. So I got wheeled into the OR and I got numbed and i was told I wouldn’t feel anything which was bs! I remember they were tugging and pulling so hard it was hurting! I was crying so they gave me the nitrous oxide. I was feeling so high and numb but they told me it was normal and to keep it on because they needed me to sit still.

October 3, 2017 at 5:28 am my beautiful angel came into this world. Right on time, right on her due date! Weighing 7 lbs 12 oz 20” long. I heard her cry and I started bawling but y’all wait for it! The nitrous oxide had me so out of it the first thing I asked was “does she look Asian?” 😭😭 😂 I’m Mexican and my hubby is Asian so I guess curiosity must’ve gotten the best of me! She is absolutely perfect and exactly how I pictured her.

Little miss Sophia Luna we love you more than life itself💕
