Is your SO from a different county than you?

I’m just wondering how many of y’all are with a partner who is from a different country? What has this been like for you? Feel free to talk about any issues y’all have had and what it’s like being with someone from a different culture. Also how did you meet them?

I am from the US and my boyfriend is from the Dominican Republic. We live in Florida and met where we worked at the time. Overall the fact we are from two different countries does not bother either of us at all, although the language barrier is a bit of an issue with his family because most of them do not speak English and I speak very little Spanish currently, although I am learning. It was a struggle to get them to accept me at first because I do not share their cultural standards and I had to adapt to them. And of course we get the occasional disapproving look in public, usually from old white people, but that’s more to to with being interracial I think. 🙄
