How much does your baby cost?

Me and my husband are trying to get pregnant, and we know you can't be 100% ready, but we'd like to be more prepared for what's to come! How much would you say you spend MONTHLY for your child's food, Drs, clothes, supplies, etc?

Childcare costs will vary greatly by location. Where I live, in-home could be $500-600 and a center is upwards of $1100. Bigger cities are much higher.

I’d say maybe $400 a month for our ten month old. Whether you breastfeed or not is a huge factor. Also, we use cloth diapers so that changes a few things. In this figure, I just kind of guesstimated costs for health insurance, food (which isn’t much because she’s still breastfed), wipes (which we don’t use a lot of), and clothes. We probably spend more on clothes than anything else which is something you could buy second hand or just not buy as much as us lol. Your lifestyle and the choices you make will greatly affect the cost of a baby.

We have a 4.5 month old and honestly she’s really not that expensive. Maybe $300 or so. 
Formula - $70ish ($16 a week with Up & Up Gentle. Same things as Enfamil Gentlease) 
Clothing - $40ish at most 
Doctors visits - $0 (my husbands military and our health insurance covers all of that)
Diapers and wipes - maybe $60? 
Miscellaneous - $100 (medicines, diaper pail refills, shampoo, lotions, extra pacifiers, etc) 
Childcare - $0 (I’m self employed and work from home while caring for our daughter 😊)

Our baby was pretty cheap lol our midwife wasn't cheap, but as far as monthly cost, I'd say maybe $300-400 a month now that he eats table food and runs and rips and breaks things. But when he was a baby, he nursed so $0 in food, he only pooped a couple times a week (I know, super weird but both my midwife and his pediatrician told me it was normal for some breastfed babies) so we never went through diapers quickly. A $40 costco box lasted us the whole month. I didn't go crazy buying him cute outfits so saved on that too. Health insurance is the priciest thing and it was only about $70 to add him. Oh and he has a membership to an indoor playground and that's $30 a month. If you stick to what they only need, it's not too bad. Now if you like shopping, then that's another story lol oh and I'm a stay at home so we don't pay child care. In our area, parents pay around $1,500 a month for child care.

$20 meds(desitin, infants benadryl,pro biotic drops etc..)

I'm sure there's more but this is just from my list that I'll be taking to court with me for child support.

Oh and dr visits for the child for the first year too is every couple of weeks and starts spacing out so those add up too

The pregnancy and birth alone depending on insurance can be 8,000 just for the pregnancy! People mention child care and that is a very valid point it is so expensive... diapers and food are next, they never seem to end or ever be enough of them !

Maybe $600 including childcare and health insurance? Maybe less. We cloth diaper and breastfeed and have had a lot of generous people around us. We’ve spent very little, it feels.
