Do you wash your hair before getting it colored?

I'm getting my hair dyed for the first time ever! And I was gonna wash my hair when I took a shower before going, but I'm reading on google some mixed answers on wether it's best to wash it or not.. any advice?! Thank you!!

If bleach is involved I don't shampoo it for 3 days before I do it. If it's just coloring it, I usually do that morning

If it's a box color don't wash. The old protect your scalp. If it's at a salon you can call the salon and ask the stylists preference, or just wait and if they want it clean they will do it in their sinks.
