should i give milk and cheese to my infant??

so I've always been told not to give milk products to a baby Under 12 months. Now I've been reading online that you could give yogurt and cheese to infants, is it really safe?

ok so the reason they don't want you giving milk is because they don't want you switching fully to milk as it doesn't have all the nutrients baby needs like formula and breastmilk does. you can give cheese and yogurt because baby won't be on a full diet of cheese and yogurt. I hope that made sense lol

We give full fat pasteurised dairy products of all kinds (cheese, yoghurt, etc) but only cooked whole milk (e.g. in porridge or sauces)

Kind of depends. If you are nursing, all dairy is fine from about 9 months in moderation. Cheese and dairy are easiest on their tummies, so usually a good idea to start there to test for sensitivity. If you are using formula, most of them are derived from cows milk, and may make sensitivity more likely, so it might be better to wait till a year. If you notice really nasty diapers every time they have something, probably best to stop a while and try again later. My daughter ended up not tolerating until age two. She would get a massive blowout that reeked every time she had milk, but cheese and yogurt were fine.

You can give them dairy just don't replace his formula/breast milk. My son couldn't handle yogurt until after 1 but He took cheese just fine

My son has only just turned one but he's been having yogurt and cheese since about 7 months. He loves yogurt and eats at least two a day! I freeze them as he's only just cutting his first tooth so they are great for him teething! I'm starting to introduce milk in his porridge in the mornings and I'm going to swap his first milk for cows milk so it's done gradually but other than milk he's had dairy products since he's been allowed solids. Our health visitor recommends it

Baby has had cheese and yogurt since 7 months and if I cook something with milk in it she still has it... it's not unsafe to give it but as another comment said it's just they can't drink milk as in replacing breastmilk or formula until 12 months.

I'd start off with a small amount to see how they will react and wait 24 hours. my brother was lacyose intolerant only when he was very young and he would get a rash on his face or arms when he had formula
