New road rules & cyclists

em

So back on the cyclist thing, from November 30, in my state there will be new road rules.

If you’re travelling under 60km/hour (37.2mph) drivers must stay at least 1 metre (3.3 feet) away from cyclists at all times.

If you’re travelling over 65km/hour (40.3mph) drivers must stay at least 1.5 metres (4.11 feet) away from cyclists at all times.

It will also be legal to cross double white lines to get that distance away from the cyclists. Currently it’s extremely illegal, and dangerous, to cross double white lines.

If you fail to comply, you will get a $400 fine and lose 4 demerit points.

Thoughts?
