Ex or not?

Say you met someone online via a gaming platform when you were 13, and you messaged but never met them in real life or seen their face, they classed it as a relationship but you broke it off after a while due to mistaking friendship for fancying them... would you count it as an ex? Or is it just like one of those kiddie relationships where you say I love you in the playground?
