Whats the main cause for a miscarriage?

I miscarried and my doctor told me the sperm didnt set right with the egg causing the baby to not develop like supposed to, but he didnt know for sure he just said thats normally what happens. any one else?

My doctor said 95% of the time, miscarriages are due to chromosomal abnormalities from either the sperm or the egg.  I unfortunately was in the 5%, where the fetus was normal—turns out I have two blood clotting disorders.  They only tested me after having a second miscarriage.

Ya I lost my baby at 10 weeks turns out she had Down's syndrome. I assume that's the cause, chromosome abnormality.

Yes. It’s usually a problem with the genetics of the embryo. Something went wrong when the cells started dividing so the baby could grow.
