is it normal to have a baby shower per child?

I'm pregnant with baby number 2 that's the opposite sex of my first child, I am wondering if I should throw myself a shower for my baby boy to be or no.

I want a baby shower for every baby I have, because every child is a celebration. If I can afford the party then people can come, they don't need to bring gifts if they're bent about it, but I doubt they'd turn down food and fun.

My mom and MIL threw me a shower for my second baby. I think every baby should be celebrated wether there are gifts or not. Even if people don’t want to bring gifts I will have a get together and just have a good time with everybody if I ever have a third baby

I would say it’s ok if the baby is the other gender, but maybe let someone else throw the shower for you. Of course you could just call it a celebration with gifts being optional.
