Does anyone use a wedge to prevent spitting up?

Nooo. You should never add a wedge to a baby’s crib. It’s so unsafe.

You should consult your pediatrician first. 
My daughter has reflux and we were “okayed” elevating her bassinet and side sleeping but there are parameters how to do it safely that you MUST follow. 
Unless the baby is choking or vomiting, a normal amount of spit up isn’t concern enough to change the basic safe sleeping rules.

I used to roll up a receiving blanket as a wedge for my son when he was newborn as he liked to sleep on his side. Though he was on the bed with me (in a separate cosleeper) and I barely slept anyways lol when he went through a colicky phase I stuffed a thin pillow under the mattress to slightly elevate the upper portion of the cosleeper, t helped a lot
