Our November baby wanted to come early! She was born on Halloween!! We had a very short labor. Started having contractions at 1:45 pm, got home from work around 2:30 pm. We went and picked my son up from school, thinking we had time to have someone meet us at the hospital to pick him up. We got to the hospital a little after 3pm. At this point I was 8.5 cm. (I was only 4 cm at my appointment the day before) they kept rolling my veins, and had a hard time with the iv. Apparently I have very small veins, and they were very stubborn. At this point it was too late, I felt the urge to push. They suggested just breaking my water, and having baby right away. Or they could keep trying the iv, but there wouldn't have been enough time for medication. I said "just get her out!" The dr broke my water, we did about 5 big pushes, and only pushed about 10 minutes, and she was born!! 3:45 pm, weighing 6 pounds 4 ounces, and 20 inches long! It all happened so fast, my husband was out in the hall with our son waiting for someone to get here, he missed her being born, but the hubby and our son got to cut the cord together, so that was special!! I'm glad my husband was with our son, he was obviously very worried about what was going on.. everything was perfect!! I'm still in shock over how fast it all went!! Also, the Girl Scout troops from our area put together this huge gift box for the first girl to be born on Halloween, which is also the founders birthday, and that was our little princess!! It was so sweet of them!!
