Pedicure ok?

My mom just told me I shouldn’t get a pedicure because it could induce labor.  I thought this sounded silly.  Has anyone else heard this?

Pedicures fine. Just make sure they don’t touch your ankles. Honestly when they see that I’m pregnant, they’ve barely touched my feet.

I mean.... my sister went into labor the day after. If you get anybody who does not know what pressure point can start labor (which is most), it can happen! But with that being said, it happens when your body is ready. If you are still early on, it won’t hurt to get a pedicure!

I was induced the day after I had a pedicure and foot massage.... I remember asking the lady to ease up a bit, she was pressing too hard on one spot of my right foot. The next morning my water started leaking (a slow leak) after confirming it was amniotic fluid, my doctor sent me to the hospital. Could be a coincidence?

There are pressure points that can induce labor but most aren't going to be pressing them hard enough to induce you. If you are worried call your OB. Also go to one that you know is reputable since some are known to have fungus issues. Mine sterilize their equipment and scrub down the tubs after each use.

You could just skip the foot massage but even then I think that pedicures are completely fine

a pedicure is fine. There are actually some pressure points on the arches of your feet that can cause contractions. That's not a myth. so if you're far along, avoid a foot massage unless it's by someone who knows how to do a prenatal one but you can get a pedicure. Do try to be near the door so you aren't inhaling a ton of fumes
