Doctor suggested I go on suboxone 1 month pregnant!
So I'm in recovery so is my fiancé. He has longer than me I have 5 months. Anyway I'm due with out first in july. I regularly attend meetings with him, I see a drug and alcohol counselor once a week I also talk to pastors from my church. Now since I've been clean I so go with my fiancé once a month and get the vivitrol shot. It's fairly new it's a non narcotic injection once a month that completely blocks opiates and alcohol so even if I wanted to get high or drunk it would be impossible.
Now it's fairly new so it's a class c pregnancy drug meaning they don't have enough studies on it yet. However, in lab rats and rabbits it was more likely to cause miscarriage.
I told the doctor I didn't think I should get it and he agreed then he comes in with my script for suboxone. I said absolutely not. Out of the question.
If your not farmiliar suboxone is indeed a narcotic, it blocks opiates to an extent however unlike vivitrol it's a narcotic with bulinorphine it it and it does indeed make you high especially for someone like myself who haven't done anything in five months. PLUS my baby would be born addicted and have to withdraw.
I was so angry and he said ok well if you don't take the subs your just gonna relapse you'll end up on dope In no time and the baby (if it even lives) will get takin away. I snapped! Stormed out.
How dare you!

I'm completely fine right now and I know I have to be aware that a craving can hit but luckily I HHa the support of my friends and family. It makes me sick that these doctors are told to push narcotics on pregnant women.
