Is being a SAHM considered work?

Is staying at home with your baby, cleaning the house, cooking dinner, taking care of the animals considered work?

If it’s soemthing that you would pay someone else to do, then yes. People don’t clean your home, take care of your kids and animals, and do all that laundry for free!

If someone asks me if I work I usually respond, no, I'm a stay at home mom.... but it is definitely work! That's for sure

Yes of course it is its a job that you get paid in hugs and kisses and weird goo that you have no idea where it came from

I don't know if it's considered work by most people, but it darn well SHOULD be. Bees don't get paid, but can you imagine if they weren't around to pollinate all our food plants, what an incredible loss that would be? We'd be pretty f*cked. Moms are the same way. Can you imagine what the world would be like without moms? Next time someone tells you being a stay-at-home mom isn't real work, say to them, "You know what? You're right," and then hand them your kids and your basket of laundry.

I do all that plus have a full time job. If I get an off day and get to just do my chores - it's like vacation for me!

I'm a stay at home mom that also works from home. I have to hire a sitter to watch my little one for a few hours until daddy gets home. It's definitely work on top of work and my husband helps a lot with the chores.
