Is a baby shower only for girls??

Question

Okay so I'm having a baby shower and my dad said baby showers are a girl thing.. does that mean only girls will show up??.. I'm very lost, I was raised by my dad and have two older brothers so I've never done "girl things" just guy stuff.. can you invite guys to them?? I'm just going to cook a bunch of food probably ribs at my house and have family over??? How is that a "girl thing" hmph

My husband and I are having a coed baby shower. I think it’s important that he gets to enjoy that special time as well.

we had a coed baby shower. my family wasn't keen on it but my SO was so excited. when people made comments I just told them it's our baby not just mine. he had so much fun and nearly cried at how many gifts we got, and it's hard to make a Marine cry. seeing him there just made me realize how much I really love him

Maybe he’s just trying to get out of going. I don’t know a lot of men who “want” to go to a baby shower because they think it’s all just girl talk and baby games and stuff they don’t find interesting. Yours sounds like a good time for all, you should definitely do a coed one if that’s what you want, don’t let anyone talk you out of it. I guarantee the only resistance you’ll get about a coed baby shower will be from the men.  Coed ones are more and more common.

In the past I think it was primarily a "girl" thing. Basically all the women of the families getting together. But if you want a coed party go ahead and have one! It's your party(and your baby's)

You know the people best that your inviting and sounds like the menu and everything would be fun for everyone so go for it. I knew most the men that I would have invited would not have been thrilled about a baby shower so mine was ladies only.

We had a ‘family baby shower’ - we were both there and our whole family and we invited everyone that was important to us. I likened it to ‘an engagement party but for a baby’. It’s his kid too!
