How common are false positives?

I have positive pregnancy tests. But mom said maybe I took it too early in my cycle giving me an inaccurate result??  Is this common?

I would say it’s uncommon if it’s a clear positive as long as you’re not reading a vvvvvfl on a test that isn’t actually really there.
