Andrea Williams (Christian Concern) vs Church of England on transgender children

Charley Knows • 24 and living without a thyroid 💪🏼

Back story on the topic: As shown on This Morning (british tv programme) which is hosted by Holly and Philip.

“One such guest is Joshua Sutcliffe, who had been suspended and could be sacked after ‘accidentally’ calling a trans pupil who identifies as a boy a ‘girl’ in class. Joshua was adamantly still calling the pupil a ‘girl’ and said he refused to recognise the ideology of gender fluidity.”

“He and Andrea Williams, the Chief Exec of Christian Concern, were on today’s show to debate the topic with the two morning presenters”

She called being transgender a 'fad', which was the final straw for Phil.

Phil said:

“Holy cow... I am finding this utterly abhorrent. In your eyes, it is not possible to be born in the wrong body?”

The guest replied in the negative, and said nothing can change then gender with which you were born.

Andrea continued “Very often when we see children identifying as homosexual it is not good for them to live out in such a lifestyle. It's not good for our children to be highly sexualised.”

Comments from viewers came rolling in with many unhappy: “Thank you for standing up for transgender children. I was disgusted by the comments from your 'Christian' guests. I am glad the school have addressed this. They are acknowledging the needs of their pupils. Well done Philip and Holly!”

This may seem very anti Christian HOWEVER, what I found remarkable is that the Church of England itself has stated in old (3 years) and new laws:

“Children should be able to try out “the many cloaks of identity” without being labelled or bullied, the Church of England has said in new advice issued to its 5,000 schools. The Church said youngsters should be free to “explore the possibilities of who they might be” – including gender identity - and says that Christian teaching should not be used to make children feel ashamed of who they are.”

The article continues to say:

“In a foreword to the advice, the Archbishop of Canterbury says: “All bullying, including homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying causes profound damage, leading to higher levels of mental health disorders,self-harm, depression and suicide. Central to Christian theology is the truth that every single one of us is made in the image of God. Every one of us is loved unconditionally by God.”

I apologise for the long read but I personally find this to be extremely interesting, the majority of us will be quick to judge a Christian because of the actions of several. The fact that the C of E is not standing for any form of bullying including transgender children is incredible. It’s showing a strong and unified message that god ultimately teaches love, joy and happiness.

💬so let me know your thoughts, please for the love of glow DO NOT turn this into a bashing fest or homophobic dumpster fire because I really think this is an important topic in today’s society.

This debate is open however I was hoping to debate Andrea vs the Church of England!
