Should I break up?

My boyfriend of 4 years just admitted to me that he cheated on me 3 years ago with his coworker... he said it only happened one time and he’s felt guilty ever since because he loves me and he says that love has only grown stronger since. Hearing that has made me feel like I can’t trust him... I know it was 3 years ago but it still hurts. Should I break up? 😢

I know I wouldn't be able to let it go, I would want to but I'm a big grudge holder. I would leave (and probably do some petty shit like pour water in his gas tank). I mean he did come out and tell you which is a big deal, but waiting three years to do so is pretty shitty.

If he's admitting it out of the blue then he's showing you he really does love you and trusting you not to dump him after this much time, I would not break up with him just keep a close eye on him without him knowing for a while to make sure he wasn't lying

That would for sure always make me second guess what he said or did for the rest of the relationship. Not sure whether or not you should break up, but definitely take some time to look at yourself and make sure you know just how much you and your Love is worth ❤️

My fiancé has done it and we've been together for almost two years now past that and he's never done it again and I trust him not to. He's giving me reasons to trust him as if I ever feel worried I'm able to check if I please because he and I both know there's nothing to hide and nothing should be hidden. I'm not saying that's everyone but maybe you can talk to him about it see how you feel and if you truly can't get passed it and want to break up than that's your choice and if you want to stay that's all up to you. Just matters on the trust and your heart

He was dishonest for 3 years so i would wonder what else he has kept from you or lied about. I’m not sure how much i would be able to trust him. Good luck ❤️

I’m sorry to sound so unforgiving, but once a cheater always a cheater. The fact that he would do that says a lot about his morals, and feelings in general about relationships, etc. Not to mention, the fact that you even put this poll on here, tell me that you’ve already made up your mind on what you want to do, but you’re just looking for approval to make sure it’s the right decision. *sighs* Look. He probably has a stack of excuses ready to throw at you as to why he did what he did. He may say that he was drunk, but people only show their true selves when their inebriated. He may say that you weren’t there for him during trying times, but you aren’t his caretaker, and he has the responsibility of coming and talking to you, before walking away from the relationship like that, which is exactly what he did. He may feel guilty to high heaven, and maybe he does, but that’s only because he knows what he’ll be missing if you leave. I’d be especially careful if you decide to forgive him, because that sets the precedent, even subconsciously, for how you’re willing to let him treat you. Not only that, but by him cheating and not telling you about it, he risked your health. You could’ve easily caught something from him, and you may still have if you haven’t been tested. Ultimately it’s up to you, but be sure to weigh everything very carefully before moving forward.
