Birth control pill caused my recurring yeast infections for 1.5 years
I had been on the pill for nearly ten years without issue. After having sex for the first time in 10 months, I suddenly started getting YIs every month. I went to several doctors but nothing got rid of the infections for good. Diflucan would work to keep the YIs from becoming a full infection, but I hated having to take the medicine every freaking month. I just couldn’t understand why my vagina suddenly hated me so much. After scouring the Internet (one of numerous times), I ran across an academic article from a study that linked long term usage of oral contraceptives to recurring yeast infections. Voila! I decided to switch to nonhormonal birth control ( the copper IUD) to see if that fixed the issue. I’ve been infection free for over a month now! Also things just feel more normal down there again. I wanted to share my solution with everyone that’s struggling with YIs because I certainly understand how awful they can be especially when they come back over and over again. Good luck ladies, and I hope this helps some of you!
