Placenta complications
This is gonna be a bit long but I seriously need some advice so please bear with me...
I have a 5 year old daughter and when I was pregnant with her they told me I was measuring small at every appointment starting at week 24. At my 38 week appointment they finally decided to do something about it and did an ultrasound. They found that my placenta had completely “died” (as they put it). Because of this my fluid level was way low and my daughter was only measuring in at 4 pounds. They send me to the hospital to get induced right away. I got to hold her for about 30 seconds when she was born and then they took her to the NICU. She ended up staying for 5 days because she was having a hard time regulating her temperature. That was one of the hardest things I’ve been through, having to go home while she stayed in the hospital.
Now I am 34 weeks along with my second little girl. I told the doctor at the very beginning that I was not okay having this baby early and I didn’t care what it took, I was keeping her in til at LEAST 38 weeks. The doctor said that shouldn’t be a problem and they would keep a very close eye on things so they could reverse anything they started going wrong. At my 32 week check up I measured 1 week behind and he said he wasn’t worried about that at all and he wouldn’t worry unless I got 2 weeks behind. At my 34 week appointment yesterday I saw a different doctor than usual (so I could meet him incase he is the one on call when I deliver) and he measured me and said I was 4 weeks behind!! He set me up an ultrasound but it’s not until next week. I’ll also see my usual doctor that day so he can go over my ultrasound.
I’m worried that my placenta is starting to “die” again and that this baby is going to end up in the NICU like my last.
My question is... if you had placenta problems with one baby, did they come about with the next one? If so was there anything they did to help or did they just deliver the baby early??
