What does a person deserve?

I broke up with ex bc he was heartless. acted like he didn't care about me or wanted me. told me, when we were trying to talk things out at the end of our relationship, that he could care less if I'm happy. for the first 4 months it was good. he gave me a lot of attention, talked to me and texted me regularly. then the last 5 months or so of our relationship he wanted me time. he got 2 hours or so each night after work(up until bed) he had 11/2-2 days of the weekend(3 day weekend) to himself. couldn't be bothered with my presence. we were together a year. I can only imagine if we got even more serious how lonely and sad I would be. But he won't let me go. we still live together due to a lease and he wants me. I feel like I could possibly be alone the rest of my life due to high standards. Love means you care for them and want them to be happy and you're respectful of their beliefs and boundaries. He wasn't yet he's much older. How much time do y'all spend apart/together from your so while living together?
