I became I stay at home mom, solely because child care is so expensive where I live that I can't afford to have a job, pay for gas to go to work, pay income taxes from my pay, and pay for child care. I would actually come home with a negative income. it suck because we could use an extra pay check, but we c ant afford it.

I work at US Bank, they give 13 weeks 100% pay. It was 8 weeks and your % of pay depending on your time you've worked there until July when they bumped it up now everyone gets 13 weeks and 100%. I'm hoping more companies will follow, my heart hurts for all the moms who only get a mere 6 weeks and some unpaid! 😞

With my first I took 6 weeks off. Three were paid with vacation and the rest was unpaid. It wasn’t long enough but my husband (now ex) was a stay at home dad so we couldn’t afford longer than that. With this baby I have a new job which provides 6 weeks paid leave plus I have 3 weeks of extended medical saved and regular sick time. So I should be able to take 10 weeks without using vacation which is the plan.

I got 16 weeks (not paid) and towards the end, decided I wanted to be a SAHM for a year because I will work for decades to come, but my baby will only be this young once.

17 weeks, 100% paid. I work for a smaller company this go around, so it will be around 12 weeks, all unpaid. Told my husband im not going back until the new baby sleeps through the night. Guess we will see!

With my first I got my year off. Then I became pregnant with my second during that time. So when my year was up I went back to work on Saturdays only as couldn’t afford daycare or sitter. So when my second was born I only took two months off due to the fact that I didn’t work enough hours to get maternity leave again. So now that I am pregnant with number 3, I am able to get maternity leave again but I won’t get paid very much and isn’t worth it for me to go on mat leave so I’m just gunna take a month or two off (unpaid) before returning to work.
