my step son came home from his mom's yesterday and has gotten this horrible rash/ small hives. we're trying to get an appointment but what can I do until then. he's been on amoxicillin for about a well for his tubes. he is 5 and woke up like this...

Get some Benadryl and hydrocortisone cream or the pink stuff ( lotion) can’t think of the name. Was he out running around in the woods or outside? Looks like allergic reaction to poison ivy or sumac. Also baking soda baths make a paste and apply on the affected areas and then sit in a warm bath after it dries a bit.

Some Benadryl and cortisone cream. Most likely an amoxicillin allergy. My daughter was on it for 6 days for a 10 day course and on day 6 she broke out in hives. It’s just a delayed reaction. Don’t give him anymore amoxicillin. And give Benadryl.

Looks like an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. My kids both got hives from amoxicillin. You can put some calamine lotion on it so he won’t itch it and maybe try and oatmeal bath to soothe.

Has he been on the prescription before? He may be allergic to the medicine he is on. Takes awhile to have a reaction sometimes.

I am allergic to amoxicillin and that looks like the reaction I get. It doesn’t show up right away because it takes a bit for the drug to build in the system and then it takes a while for it to go away. Mine took almost a month after stopping meds to finally go away, I had patchy hives on my chest but the worst was I had the bumpy rash all over my face and neck!!! I looked like a damn turkey for a month till it went away!

amoxicillin is the most common penicillin to be allergic too... Doctor will just switch antibiotics..
