Sharp pains?

I️m 40 weeks tomorrow (nov 22). I️ hadn’t felt anything out of the ordinary until about an hour ago. Been getting shooting pains in my lower abdomen, mostly towards my left side. They’re relatively quick and stabbing and I️ don’t think I️ feel tightening. My stomach if very hard, but it’s been that way the whole time. Think it’s just the baby. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Could this be early stages of labor? (My doctor doesn’t do internal exams, so I️ have no clue how dilated or effaced I️ may or may not be.) thanks!

Update: about 30 min later just got my first bit of mucus. Lightly tinted brown.
