How many would recommend the IUD?

Question

Thinking trying the IUD. Got pregnant on the pill. Shot may have started to cause problems that would stop me from having kids. Tried the nevaring.

I got pregnant with the Skyla IUD after having it a year and a half. It was in place and I always checked my strings.

The IUD is an extremely convenient and reliable form of contraceptive.  It’s low maintenance and unlike the pill the chance of you getting pregnant because you forgot to take the pill or you were on medication that countered the effectiveness of the pill aren’t there. It’s also long term in the sense that some last for five years and some last ten years. With the added advantage that it can be removed anytime without affecting your fertility. With that being said, The IUD does come with its own list of side effects, which may or may not effect you. I inserted mine a few months ago and my side effects were, heavier periods, spotting between periods, longer periods with severe abdominal cramps before and during my period, and increased vaginal discharge. I find that I’m more often bleeding than I’m not and I’m considering having mine removed. I have a friend who inserted hers around the same time as me and she has none of the side effects that I have.  So it really does depends on how your body reacts to it. If you generally bleed heavier during your period chances are that you will be more susceptible to the side effects I posted above. Research the pros and cons of the IUD and different types available, to work out whether or not it’s for you. Also speak to a medical practitioner, who would be best able to assist with any concerns regarding the IUD.

I have the Skyla IUD and I absolutely love it. I was fortunate enough to get a doctor that told me what she was going to do before actually doing it. The key is to just relax because if you tense up, the pain will be worse. That’s just my experience, everyone is different.

i wanted to try it but it hurt me so bad when they inserted it inside me and i couldn’t take the weird feeling pain !!! i was crying!!! i think the nuvaring is good tho. maybe try that
