Can birth control cause problems later down the road?

I’m not sure if this is true or not but I’m just wondering because I feel like birth control is a little unnatural. I am 17 and I’ve been on the depo shot for about a year now because my periods are naturally heavy and my cramps are unbearable. I’m am just curious, can birth control cause problems later like endometriosis or infertility?

I was on birth control for over ten years and when it was time to stop i had the worst side effects. Its been almost a year since i stopped and im still struggling to feel “normal” or back to my old self again. Birth control depletes you from a lot of vitamins and nutrients the body needs. Once you stop you feel the harm it causes you. The body has to learn how to do a lot of things on its own, the natural way. Thank God i feel better but it hasn’t been easy. I wish someone would have oriented me more about this topic.

I was on the depo shot for a little over 2 years and on the pill for almost 8 years and we are having a hard time trying to conceive....but a friend of mine was on the pill for over 10 years and got pregnant a month after getting off....I think everyone’s body is just different

Generally speaking birth control isn't horrible for you. For some people their bodies react differently to it differently. Depo is very bad for your system. you should never be on it for more than 4 consecutive shots and for more than 2 years. it can cause bone density loss, temporary infertility, weight gain, severe anxiety/depression, IBS symptoms. When you get off depo it remains in your system and stores itself in your fat cells and can cause issues for over a year after coming off the shot. I don't recommend this birth control at all.

Depo can. It’s the harshest on your body, and not recommended to use for more than 2 consecutive years. It diminishes bone density and can cause fertility issues if used too long. 
If you like Depo, try the implant instead. They’re hormonally similar but the implant doesn’t carry those issues.

Can't speak on everyone else's experience but I was only on depo for 3 months, got off, and I still have had no  luck... That was almost a year and a half ago 😑😩
