My father doesn't like my long term SO

Strictly because he isn't white. He's 3 quarters Asian and 1 quarter Irish. Throughout our entire 4 year long relationship, he's been trying to get me to date white men. It breaks my heart because my SO refuses to go to family gatherings if my father would be present.. What do you ladies think I should do? Should we get married regardless of my father's feelings? I'm torn. I don't want to upset my dad.
