Is labour near?

Hi, looking some advise/ past experiences. I had a sweep yesterday at 38week scan she said I was 2cm dialated and 50% effaced, cervix favourable. Had my bloody show yesterday also, slight back pains on and off but nothing else. Can I expect labour to be soon? Doctor didn't even book me in for another app because she's expecting me to go before then.

Every pregnancy is different. I am on my 5th now. Every pregnancy I had showed signs at the end that labor might happen soon such as bloody show , contractions etc. my 3rd son my water broke and nothing happened. They had to induce me after 18 hours due to risk of infection once the water breaks. Just try to get as much sleep as possible while u can and good luck!

I was 39W when I went into labor. I had bad back contractions and some spotting.

Honestly I didn’t get my membranes stripped until I was closer to 5cm dilated and 90% effaced. However I was 2cm dilated and 50% effaced for nearly two weeks with contractions every 2 minutes. My point is that everyone is different. My contractions didn’t not create progress for a few weeks but everyone kept telling me that I would go into labor any day. The frustration of hearing that is simply that I didn’t so my hopes got dashed. 
So my advice, don’t listen to anyone, your body with go into labor when it’s ready.
