When we say we’re planning a water birth and no epidural, be supportive! Don’t tell me I can’t do it, won’t do it, or shouldn’t do it. Don’t tell me “good luck” sarcastically with a laugh.

When we say we’re not going to find out the gender, be supportive! Don’t tell me I won’t be able to handle not knowing. Don’t tell me it’s too difficult to wait.

I’ll happily listen to birth stories and take supportive advice. But don’t laugh at me, judge me, or tell me I can’t. That’s not what family is supposed to do and it’s irritating.
